Arturo Vidal to resume training with Inter after injury

Arturo Vidal to resume the first-team training with Inter tomorrow. He is getting better from his knee injury. As per Gazzetta Dello Sport’s print edition. The Chilean’s condition is clearly improving. Also, he has increased his workload while training on his own. But is yet to completely overcome his injury which he picked up in the 2-0 win over Fiorentina.

Due to his injury, Vidal had to miss the second leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final, in which they got eliminated by Juventus, his former team. Now, he is likely to miss the Derby di Milano, which could be a potential title decider. Even if Vidal does make it into the squad, he will not necessarily start. Since Christian Eriksen is the current favourite to complete Antonio Conte’s midfield three.

Arturo Vidal to resume training, but is likely to miss the Derby

Vidal is an experienced box-to-box mid-fielder. He was a beast in Juventus. But he is well past his prime and lacks stamina. Vidal’s recklessness was his strength at one point but it did not quite turn out well for Inter. The Nerazzurri bought the Chilean to Inter with high hopes but hasn’t delivered to that level. He lacks pace which is the reason why he is late on challenges and gets booked often. Conte was very happy to get him into the team but he has disappointed him thus far. Vidal came to Inter for a fee of €1 million. The Chilean had a decent run with Barcelona but in the end, it was evident that he is not even close to the player he once was. But he still has a lot to offer and provides much-required steel in the midfield.

Inter is likely to face their city rivals without him. This Derby could very well decide the title and both the teams would be ready for the challenge.
