Fabrizio has his hand on the pulse of all the transfers across European football. He said that the Nerazzurri’s first choice to replace Samir Handanovic as a captain is Barella. Also, other options for the armband include Lukaku, Skriniar, or Brozovic but it appears as though Barella is preferred.
Barella has refreshed the midfield ever since he joined the club in the 2018/19 season. He has signed a contract with Inter till the 2023/24 season. He was a part of Cagliari’s youth academy, and then he went to Como in Serie B. The Italian turned 24 this month. Conte has used him perfectly and helped him to settle into the club very easily.

He is a versatile player and is capable of playing anywhere in midfield. But his favoured role is as a right-sided, attacking midfielder, known as a “mezzala” in Italy. He has an eye for goal, he possesses a good shot from outside the area. Also, he has the ability to make late attacking runs from behind into the penalty area. So as for the captain, the board thinks that Barella has all the leadership qualities to captain their club.
