Beppe Marotta is key at Inter, says ex Juve President

Ex Juve president, Giovanni feels that they should have kept Beppe Marotta as he is key at Inter. The Nerazzurri appointed Marotta as their sporting chief executive at the end of 2018. After Juventus president Agnelli opted to part company with him as part of a reshuffle. Marotta was one of the key architects of the Bianconeri’s revival at the start of the previous decade. He had a formidable partnership with Conte that brought them three straight Serie A titles. But, he will be out of contract with Inter in 2022 along with Conte and Ausilio. It is unlikely that he will start next season with only one year left on his deal.

Speaking to Radio on Monday, Giovanni rued: “Juventus’ technical staff has a chronic weakness since the club decided to part company with Marotta. He said, “He’s a mature manager who has done well at handling some awkward situations at Inter, like the one involving Icardi.”

Beppe Marotta is key at Inter as he handles off the pitch issues with ease

Further, he said, “Inter have uncertainty at club level at the moment and yet the team hasn’t suffered from it on the pitch, thanks to Marotta. “They are playing well with a very bold coach and seem to be ignoring what’s happening outside. “I think this is in part thanks to the intelligent work Marotta has done to filter out the rumours. “My feeling is that Juve were arrogant in getting rid of Marotta”. Also, Beppe returned to Gentile yesterday for the first time after recovering from COVID-19.

He has played a pivotal role in Inter’s bid to win the Serie A title since the start of 2021. Since he has helped to isolate Inter’s players from the ongoing issues with owners. Inter will face Sassuolo tomorrow at San Siro.
