Brozovic could miss both matches against Barcelona

Marcelo Brozovic could miss both games against Barcelona in the Champions League. The Croatian midfielder had to go off in last night’s game against Austria. Brozovic is suffering from a thigh injury and could be out for weeks, which is a worrying sign for Inter. The Croatian midfielder is a vital part of Inzaghi’s system, and he contributes to all three parts of the pitch. Now, Inzaghi will have to use Asllani or go for Gagliardini, who has more experience.

Inter Milan struggled a lot last year when Brozovic had to miss a few games due to injury. So, Inzaghi desperately needed a proper backup for the Croatian midfielder. Inter have signed Asllani, who can operate in that role, but he is young and raw in some areas. The former Empoli midfielder will have to step up to perform well against the quality midfield trio of Barcelona.

A definite extent of Brozovic’s injury is not known yet, but he could be out for weeks if it is a strain. He had to go off in the 18th minute of the game, and Majer replaced him. However, his side won the game and can proceed to the later stages of the competition. Inter will miss Brozovic’s presence in the center of the park as he instigates the majority of Inter Milan’s attack by helping the back in three building up. Moreover, Brozovic has to stop the opponent’s counters by performing tactical fouls.

Inter can use Gagliardini to make up for the physicality of Brozovic, however, the Italian midfielder is not a good passer of the ball. While Asllani can help Inter by playing as a regista and intercepting or tackling a few attacks. Brozovic will also miss the AS Roma game and the Sassuolo match before the UCL clash.
