Injury update on Alessandro Bastoni. The Italian defender is suffering from an injury and hence he could not play against Sampdoria. Simeone Inzaghi will see if he is fit as he would not want to ravage his injury and will only play him against Real Madrid if he is fully fit. Inzaghi started Dimarco in place of Bastoni on Sunday and he did well. Dimarco scored an excellent free kick with his left foot and was decent at the back as well. Bastoni got a minor thigh flexor strain when he was with Italy on international duty. This morning he took some medical tests which shows that he has recovered from his injury. But, Inzaghi will decide whether he can come straight into starting 11 against Real Madrid in their UCL group stage match.
Inter Milan could not get three points against Sampdoria at the weekend and will look to start their UCL campaign with a win. Inzaghi might opt to start with Dimarco again and give Bastoni rest for another match as a precautionary measure. On the other hand, Real Madrid are in a great goal scoring form as they scored 5 goals against Celta Vigo on Sunday. So, Inzaghi would want to start with his best backline.
Injury update on Alessandro Bastoni
Inter Milan’s medical staff are monitoring his injury for the past 2 days. After today’s tests, the results revealed that he is fit. But Inzaghi would not want to re-injure him as the season has just started. Also with Dimarco’s great performance, Inzaghi will hope that he will be up for the big game.
Bastoni was brilliant for Inter last season and played a big part in their Scudetto triumph. He signed a new contract this year till 2024. He now earns €4 million per season.
