Inter eye Gianluca Mancini, claims Italian Media

Inter eye Gianluca Mancini as they look to revitalize their defence in Summer. Mancini took his first steps towards the game in 2003 by the coach of a local team. In fact, the coach suggested that Mancini should be playing football. However, his father thought he was too young. After the coach’s insistence, he started playing football. And soon, Fiorentina spotted him and brought him to their youth camp. Mancini progressed from a central midfielder to a defender. He spent nine years with the club in which he won the national title with the Under-15s.

Fiorentina’s coach Vincenzo Montella called Mancini to train with the senior team on several occasions. The Italian soon started attracting interest from various clubs. Thus, Perugia took the chance on him, taking him on loan to help him develop in Serie B. He ended up starting 11 games in a row. This resulted in Perugia making his move permanent.

Inter eye Gianluca Mancini to add power to their defence

Mancini’s jump to Serie A took place in 2017. He scored his first Serie A goal in February 2018 and made 11 appearances. In the following season, he made 30 appearances under Gian Pieri Gasperini. He also made a number of appearances in the Europa League. Furthermore, in the 2018-19 Serie-A campaign, he scored 5 goals. In fact, only Alexander Kolarov(eight) scored more goals than him in defence last season.

Mancini has a fighting spirit and can fit well into Conte’s system. However, Mancini has other clubs in line to sign him. Everton is one of the clubs who are interested in signing the 24- year old. The former Atlanta player was linked with a possible transfer to Inter but there was no formal offer. However, the youngster can add depth to the defence. His value is still unknown. Although the bigger question is, will Roma let him go?
