Inter return to winning ways after beating Empoli

Inter return to winning ways as they beat Empoli 2-0. D’Ambrosio gave Inter the lead in the 34th minute as he started ahead of Skriniar. He scored a wonderful goal as he started the move after winning the ball back. He then had a brilliant touch and go with Sanchez who chipped the ball perfectly for him to score the header. Inzaghi decided to rotate some players and he gave rest to Dzeko as well. Alexis Sanchez started in place of him and had a great game. Inter needed the 3 points as the gap was increasing between them and Milan.

The hosts started the match positively as they were pressing high and attacking the wide areas. So Inter soaked the pressure in the start and then they started to dominate the possession. Empoli had a couple of chances in the start but Inter defended them well. Sanchez was causing problems to Empoli’s defense and they were trying to foul him when he had the ball. Luperto got booked for tugging him. Sanchez created 4 key chances and he assisted D’Ambrosio’s goal. D’Ambrosio pushed forward from his right center-back position and Darmian was tucking while Sanchez had the freedom to move. Sanchez had a brilliant chance by the end of the first half but he could not keep the balance after beating the keeper and the ball got cleared.

Inter started the 2nd half well and Empoli were now dropping deep to defend. In the 52nd minute, Inter were on a counter after defending a corner successfully and Ricci committed a harsh foul on Bastoni by sliding in and got a red card. This changed the game as Inter now suffocated Empoli in their half and managed to break their counter attacks soon. Darmian was able to get to advance positions and was providing perfect crosses. Gagliardini hit the post after getting to the end of Darmian’s delivery.

In the 66th minute, Lautaro Martinez managed to beat a defender in the right half-space and gave a perfect cross for Dimarco who arrived at the far post to finish it and double the lead. In the 74th minute, Gagliardini scored a goal but it did not count as it came off his hand. Inzaghi then gave rest to his other key players as he substituted De Vrij, Brozovic, and Lautaro and Inter managed to keep a clean sheet.
