Inzaghi insists on signing Acerbi from Lazio

Inzaghi insists on signing Acerbi before the transfer window closes. The Italian manager has said to the board that he needs a defender for the long season. But the owner, Steven Zhang has blocked Acerbi’s move as he does not want to increase Inter’s wage bill. The Nerazzurri have reduced their wage bill significantly after offloading the Chilean duo, Vidal and Sanchez.

Inter Milan have been vulnerable in defense and Inzaghi wants a defender to improve the back line. De Vrij has not been consistent and Inter need a backup for him. The Nerazzurri will have to make the move fast to complete Acerbi’s transfer as the transfer window will be closed tomorrow. Inter have been in pursuit of Acerbi for a long time and have agreed to the personal terms. Also, Lazio are willing to let go of the Italian defender on loan to Inter.

Acerbi has reduced his wages to come to Inter, but the Nerazzurri might not be able to sign him. They have sold young players like Pinamonti and Casadei to make room for one more signing, but the owners are not willing to sign him. Acerbi will fit seamlessly in Inter’s backline as he has experience playing in Inzaghi’s system. Also, the Italian defender can start ahead of De Vrij if he performs well. Inzaghi said in a press conference that it will be a long season so they need players for rotation and have to be ready for everything.

Inter were keeping Acerbi’s deal on hold as they were looking to sign other defenders like Akanji and Chalobah. But those deals did not work out, and Inter will now have to sign Acerbi soon. After the loss to Lazio, it was evident that Inter have to improve their defense if they want to challenge for the title.
