Kolarov to leave Inter after Bastoni’s exceptional form

Kolarov to leave Inter Milan by the end of this season. As reported by Gazzetta. The Serbian joined on a €1.5 million deal from Roma last summer. He has made just 11 appearances for the Nerazzurri in all competitions. Kolarov turns 36 in November. He has his heavy annual salary of € 3 million. These are the factors that are playing against him regarding a future at Inter.

The defender’s contract expires in the summer and it appears Inter have no intention of extending it. Kolarov has failed to score for Conte’s side. He has provided just one assist, which came in a 2-2 draw against Parma last October.

Although primarily a left-back, Kolarov can also operate as a centre-back and anywhere along the left flank. He can not play as wing-back since Inter want Perisic to stay in next season too. Kolarov was named Serbian Player of the Year in 2011. Kolarov began his career at Red Star Belgrade. Two years later, he joined OFK Beograd before moving abroad for the first time by signing for Lazio in Serie A. So there he won the Coppa Italia and Supercoppa in 2009. In 2010, he joined Man City, with which he won two Premier League titles, the FA Cup and the League Cup. He made his international debut for Serbia in 2008 and has earned 94 caps since then. Kolarov was a member of Serbia’s squads for the 2008 Olympics, 2010 FIFA World Cup, and the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Bastoni’s exceptional form at left centre-back is said to be one of the main reasons Kolarov had failed in Milan, forcing him to spend much of the season on the bench. The comparison between the two players hardly even exists, such is the difference between Bastoni and Kolarov’s performances.
