Liverpool interested in Barella to replace Wijnaldum

Liverpool interested in Barella to replace Wijnaldum as he might make a move away from the club. Barcelona have shown interest in the Dutch. On the other hand, Barella is attracting several clubs due to his top-notch skills. Recently, PSG have shown interest in the midfielder. While not just them, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are also keeping an eye on the 24-year old. Inter brought Barella for an enormous €40 million to enhance their midfield.

Ever since Barella has come to Inter, he has only excelled at a faster pace than expected. He did not take much time to adapt to Conte’s system. In fact, he became a regular player in the squad under Conte. The 24-year old has established himself as one of the best midfielders in the country. He made 39 appearances for Inter in his first year with the club proving his importance under Conte. Subsequently, Inter have had eyes on Wijnaldum for a while and wanted to sign him in the winter transfer window. However, due to financial constraints, the deal could not be finalized.

While Barella has another three seasons left, the Nerazzurri are ready to offer a new contract to Barella which might involve captaincy. While Barcelona have made great progress with the Wijnaldum deal, Inter are still eyeing the 30-year old. Earlier, Inter had 2 problems before locking the deal. One, the Dutch’s demand for €9-10 million per season, and a huge signing fee. Plus, Suning’s financial problems. However, as of now, Suning have resolved their finances, at least for this season but the future of the club is still hazy.

On top of that, Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has said that Barella’s move away is unlikely. “Inter Milan don’t want to let him go, he is very important for them. I don’t think [a move to Liverpool] will be possible [in the summer], he will be very expensive but Inter don’t want to let him go,” he finished.
