Liverpool reportedly keen on Barella ahead of the summer window. The Reds have a huge hole in their squad after Wijnaldum’s departure. On the other hand, Barella has established himself as one of the best midfielders in Europe. While his specialization may not be the same, he is a complete player. Furthermore, Barella has been a consistent goal scorer for Inter. His form with the Nerazzurri will be extremely beneficial for the Reds.
Nicolo Barella began his career in football with Cagliari Calcio. He was also a part of their youth setup. In 2019, Barella came to Inter on a year-long loan with a condition to buy attached. The deal included a four-year deal after finishing the loan spell. Barella quickly adapted to Conte’s system and grew exponentially under the former Nerazzurri boss. Further, Inter won their first Scudetto in 10 years and Barella played a consistently important role in the success.
Liverpool reportedly keen on Barella but will the Nerazzurri sell?
Inter have been in financial crisis for a while. Suning are constantly trying to make the financial situation of the club better. The Chinese owners have secured three-year funding from Oaktree Capital worth €275 million. Since the Chinese government passed a rule which barred the owners to make any personal investment in the club, it made the finances worse. The trouble began when the coronavirus pandemic hit the world. Further, the pandemic is still ongoing and revenues are short. However, the San Siro has opened up for the public recently.
Barella has a value of €58.5 million. And since Hakimi is sold for €60 million to PSG, Inter still have to make money out of sales. The Nerazzurri kept a target of collecting €80 million in revenue from player sales. However, they have refused to take any offers for Barella as the Reds asked for information about him. Collovati praised Barella saying he is the best midfielder. The 24-year is proving to be an asset to his national team too. Will Inter sell Barella at any cost?
