Lukaku could miss World Cup through injury

Romelu Lukaku could miss the FIFA World Cup due to his thigh injury. The Belgian striker came back from injury and was looking sharp, but after the Sampdoria match, he had another thigh strain. Now according to reports he might miss the World Cup, and will not play for Inter till January 2023. Romelu Lukaku played his first game after a long injury against Plzen. He came on for 10 minutes, and scored a goal, and played more minutes against Sampdoria.

The Belgian striker was keen to have a successful return to Inter after failing at Chelsea. However, Lukaku has not reached his full potential yet and is going to miss almost half a season at Inter. He will not be playing the remaining games before the World Cup. So Inzaghi will have to operate with Dzeko, Lautaro, and Correa for Juve, Bologna, and Atalanta games. Also, if he recovers for World Cup, there is no guarantee that he will come back fresh in January.

The medical staff at Inter Milan are surprised after looking at his physical condition. Lukaku’s recovery rate has decreased, and his physical condition is nowhere near when he played for Inter before. The Belgian had gained some weight when he was at Chelsea. Also, lack of game time has made him a shadow of a player he was under Conte. Inter will think twice before renewing his loan deal with Chelsea. But the Belgian striker has made come back in past.

If Lukaku fails to go to Qatar for the World Cup, he could use the break to work on himself. The Belgian forward can come out as a better player in January for Inter. Also, Inzaghi and the medical staff will help him to improve physically and technically.
