Lukaku to Chelsea won’t happen as Inter will reject offers

Inter could receive an eye-watering bid from the Premier League for Lukaku this summer. As reported by Calcio Mercato. Chelsea’s owner Roman Abramovich had put Lukaku second on the club’s transfer wish list, behind Haaland. Chelsea are not short of liquidity like most clubs at present. So, they are ready to take serious steps towards Lukaku, preparing an offer which could exceed €100 million. But, Lukaku to Chelsea won’t happen as Inter are ready to ‘strongly reject’ any advances for their star striker.

Inter want Lukaku to remain their talisman for many years to come. The Belgian is arguably in his best form at the moment. He is looking more of a leader under Conte than he has ever seemed before in his career. Inter need the 27-year-old in order to become more competitive in Europe and hence consider him to be untouchable.

Lukaku joined Chelsea in 2011 on a reported fee of €20 million with add-ons. In the 2013-14 season, he moved to West Bromwich Albion on loan. And further, he moved to Everton on loan in the next season. He signed a five-year deal for €28 million. After scoring eight goals at the end of the season, he was the highest goalscorer of the tournament alongside red Bull Salzburg. In 2017, he joined Manchester United on a five-year contract for a further year. He joined Inter Milan in the 2019-20 season.

Man City could rival Chelsea in any bid to sign Lukaku. They have already tried to secure him last summer. Pep Guardiola’s side are seeking a replacement for the departing Aguero. Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman also wants a reunion with Lukaku after coaching him at Everton. But the La Liga giants do not have the financial resources to make an offer.
