Marotta dismisses the swap deals with Barcelona

The Inter Milan CEO Beppe Marotta dismisses the recent swap deals with Barcelona. The recent reports were indicating swap deals between Inter and Barcelona for Memphis Depay and Joaquin Correa. Moreover, Frank Kessie and Marcelo Brozovic’s swap was also on the cards, but it was less likely. The Correa and Depay swap deal was heating up in recent days, but Beppe Marotta came out and said the rumors were fabricated.

The Nerazzurri fans were optimistic about the recent transfer rumors of Joaquin Correa, who has struggled to make his mark at the club. The Argentine forward has been suffering from injuries and has not fulfilled his potential at Inter Milan. Simone Inzaghi brought the former Lazio forward to the club, as he knew his qualities. But even Inzaghi has struggled to get the best out of him. So a swap to Barcelona in exchange for Depay could have been a good deal.

While speaking to Mundo Deportivo, Beppe Marotta poured cold water on the recent rumors of the swap deal. The Brozovic and Kessie swap deal made little to no sense, as Inter consider the Croatian maestro a key part of their system. Moreover, Franck Kessie did not want to return to Serie A and join his former club’s rivals. The Croatian midfielder has been struggling with injuries this season, but he is still a vital clog in Inter Milan’s squad.

The Nerazzurri should look for some additions though if they wish to get into the title race this season. Currently, they need a backup option in front, as both Correa and Lukaku are not contributing enough. Inter could also add a midfielder to have some depth and rotation options during the fixture congestion. Dumfries’ transfer could open doors for Inter to sign some players.
