Martinez wants a renewal but at a very high cost

Martinez wants a renewal to stay at the Nerazzurri club but his cost is not what Inter planned reports Calcio Mercato. Lautaro rejected the advances of Real Madrid and Barcelona to stay at Inter. But, as the renewal talks begin, rumours of a massive wage upgrade are doing the rounds. Barcelona offered Martinez a very good package. And if his representatives ever had talks with Real Madrid they must’ve made a very good offer as well. It’s only natural that Lautaro wants to get as close to those offers as possible while also staying at the club. Unfortunately, Inter never thought this situation will arise with the Argentine.

The 23-year-old striker very clearly wants to earn what he could have with a move away. If he manages to convince the Inter hierarchy to bow to his demands then he can become the highest-paid player in the squad.

Furthermore, Lautaro is becoming an essential part of Conte’s plans with every passing day. The Argentine has formed a formidable partnership with Romelo Lukaku. The duo are one of the best striker pairs in the world at the moment. Martinez is also a good fit for Conte’s style of play. Which a new striker will possibly struggle to adapt to.

Martinez wants a renewal but what does the Nerazzurri club want?

Martinez wants a renewal

We can talk about how good Lautaro is under Conte all day. But, it is no secret that the club will cash in on him if the opportunity arises. The primary reason for this is the fact that Conte is eager to bring N’Golo Kante. Kante on the other hand wants to stay at Chelsea and is a very expensive buy. Thus only the sale of a player like Martinez can fund Kante’s move.

Martinez wants a renewal but there’s a high possibility that Inter never thought he’ll stay. Only a few months ago, Barcelona went all out to take the Argentine to the Camp Nou. But, the atmosphere surrounding Messi’s fight with the Barca board has put off Martinez. All in all, the Nerazzurri must’ve never thought of the scenario where Martinez wants a massive wage with the new contract. As things stand, Inter must churn out a deal that keeps him happy and doesn’t drain the club finances too much.
