Inter Milan and Nicolo Barella rejected both Newcastle United and Liverpool in the summer transfer window. The Italian midfielder wants to stay with Inter and win more trophies. After achieving great success last season, Barella had offers from top European clubs. Newcastle United and Liverpool came forward and made lucrative offers for the Nerazzurri midfielder. But Barella does not want to leave Inter as he has been improving tremendously ever since he came from Cagliari.
Newcastle United were keen to get Barella, as they put forward a brilliant deal for the Italian maestro. However, neither Inter nor Barella are ready to move to separate ways as Barella has been terrific for the Nerazzurri. The former Cagliari midfielder has been pivotal to their success in recent years, and Inter plans to make him a captain in the future. Another club from the Premier League that were keen to get Barella was Liverpool. The Reds have kept Barella on their radar for quite some time now. Jurgen Klopp is a big admirer of Barella, and his team went through a midfield overhaul in the summer. Klopp and his team tried their best to get the Italian midfielder, but Inter have been adamant in their position that Barella is untouchable. Also, it would have been tough to construct the midfield after losing Brozovic in the window as well.
Nicolo Barella played a crucial role in Inter’s Serie A triumph and was a key player on their road to the Champions League final. So the former Cagliari midfielder believes he can excel even more by staying here. Barella’s contract will run till 2026, and Inter will be planning on extending it soon.
