Edin Dzeko joins Fenerbahce as a free agent

Edin Dzeko joins Fenerbahce on a free transfer as the Bosnian striker has decided to leave Italy after eight years. The Nerazzurri were willing to extend his stay with a new deal, but the Bosnian striker has agreed to a move to the Turkish side. His contract with Inter Milan will expire at the end of this month, and he will join Fenerbahce officially. The Bosnian striker will soon undergo his medicals.

Dzeko has been a key player for Inter after Lukaku’s departure as he formed a good partnership with Lautaro at the top. Moreover, the Bosnian striker continued to perform consistently after Lukaku’s return, who was struggling with his injuries. Inzaghi preferred to start Dzeko in crucial games, as he gives Inter an outlet with the long balls. The former Roma striker is excellent in the air and helped Inter in the knockout games to ease the pressure and progress forward. Moreover, his finishing is still of the highest order, and he scored important goals throughout the season.

After being silently one of the best strikers in Serie A, Dzeko will leave Italy to start a new chapter in Turkey. The Bosnian striker has had an underrated career, as he has played brilliantly in three top leagues of Europe. In Bundesliga with Wolfsburg, Dzeko scored 66 goals, in Premier League with City he registered 50. However, it is in Serie A where he left a mark by scoring 147 goals and providing 69 assists.

The Nerazzurri are looking for a forward that can replace Dzeko. Marcus Thuram and Retegui are their prime targets. But Inter will have to make a move soon to secure the transfer. Lukaku might leave Inter too, so the Nerazzurri have to sign a quality forward to support Lautaro.
