Inter Milan beat AS Roma 1-0 but had to work for their win as Mourinho’s side were defending well. Also, Inter could not convert several chances to increase their lead. Simone Inzaghi played his best lineup as Thuram came in for Sanchez. Benjamin Pavard joined the back three, and Dumfries was on the right flank. Dimarco had a brilliant game as in a game of few chances, he produced a moment of magic to set up Thuram.

The Nerazzurri were dominating at the start and Calhanoglu had a great chance to take an early lead in the 6th minute, but his effort hit the crossbar. Inter were making progress from their flanks as Inzaghi was attacking the wide regions to extend the backline. Pavard was making runs in the box by underlapping Dumfries. The Dutch defender provided a couple of balls to the French defender, but he could not convert those chances.

Inzaghi decided to remove Pavard in the second half as he was on a yellow. The Giallorossi were better in the second half, as Cristante managed to get on the end of a cross from the left. He almost scored with his powerful header, but Sommer was equal to save it. Inzaghi made some changes to spice things up. Frattesi and Asllani came in for Calhanoglu and Mkhitaryan.

The game was heading towards a draw, but in the 81st minute, Dimarco received a pass from across the field. The Italian wing-back then provided an excellent low cross for Thuram. The French forward came ahead of the defensive line and did not disappoint with his close-range finish. Inzaghi then made a defensive change as he brought De Vrij for Dumfries. The Nerazzurri managed to keep their lead intact in the later stages as Roma were pushing men forward.
