Inter sign Juan Cuadrado on a free transfer

Inter Milan sign Juan Cuadrado for a one-year deal on a free transfer from Juventus. The Nerazzurri had to bring in a replacement for Raoul Bellanova as the former Cagliari defender’s loan ended with Inter, and he has decided to join Torino on a permanent transfer. Cuadrado is a Serie A veteran and will slot seamlessly into Inzaghi’s back three system.

The Colombian defender will undergo his medical tests with Inter tomorrow as per reports. The former Juve wingback agreed to join Inter instantly and had no problem in agreeing to the personal terms. However, many Nerazzurri fans hate Cuadrado because of his antics in the Derby d’Italia over the past years.

Despite being 35 years old, the Colombian wing-back will be a viable backup option for Dumfries. Meanwhile, Darmian is expected to continue at the right side of the back three with Skriniar’s departure. Cuadrado will bring flair and a different angle in attack.

Inter Milan’s transfer strategy is to bring either young players with high potential or get players who are available as free agents. Cuadrado falls in the latter category and is a perfect deal for Inter as he comes on a free transfer. However, the former Juve wing-back has huge wages and will have to accept a cut to fit in Inter’s wage bill.

Bellanova showed promise in his one-year loan stint at Inter. However, Cagliari and Inter did not agree on a permanent move, and the player wanted a transfer to a team that will give him regular game time. Torino will offer him more starts, and the young Italian defender will get the chance to grow more.

Inzaghi will have to consider Cuadrado’s defensive incapability while playing him. The Colombian was an out-and-out winger for Juve in the recent past.
