Simone Inzaghi is ready to get Romelu Lukaku back to his physical best and settle him into the new system. The Belgian will be the spearhead for Inter along with Lautaro, and Inzaghi is working to get the best out of Lukaku. After a disappointing season with Chelsea last year, Lukaku is focused to come back to his shape and have another great season with Inter. However, during his time at Chelsea, he became slightly rusty. So he will have to work hard with Inter’s physios and medical staff.
The Belgian has had a good start to the season so far, he scored in the second minute on his return to Inter. He also gave an assist against Spezia as both Lautaro and Lukaku combined again at the San Siro. Inzaghi is working hard to get his players ready for the long season ahead. Soon Inter will be playing games every three days, so Inzaghi might have to rotate some players. Dzeko and Correa are looking good as backup options too, as the Argentine scored against Spezia.
Inzaghi to get the best out of Lukaku, both physically and tactically
Lukaku played his best football in his career under Conte, but now he will have to adapt. Inzaghi has a different system where Inter keeps more possession of the ball. While Lukaku was the target man under Conte and he was a focal point for his teammates. Under Inzaghi, he will have to get more involved in the build-up and make accurate runs.
The Belgian might be more of a creator for his teammates in this system, and he will have to get at the end of the crosses. At Chelsea, Lukaku was alone at the top while at Inter he will have Lautaro and other players around him. So he will have to improve his first touch and link-up play. The physios and medical staff feel that he is at 70% of his physical best currently.
