Lazio beat Inter to claim the top spot in the Serie A table. Inzaghi’s return to the Olimpico ended in a disappointing 3-1 defeat, like the last season. The Biancocelesti wanted it more as they put on a great display in front of the home crowd. The Nerazzurri could get a grip on the game and missed a few chances, which lead to the defeat.
Inzaghi decided to start Dimarco and Dumfries, which did not help Inter in defense. The Nerazzurri had a good start as Lazio were forced to defend for the first 15 minutes. But soon, Immobile had a chance to open the scoring, however, his shot went just wide of the post. Lukaku also had a great chance on the other end following a corner. But the Belgian could not put his header on target to Dimarco’s cross.
Romagnoli improved Lazio’s defense as he was making it hard for Inter to win the aerial duels. Five minutes before half-time, Lazio scored the first goal as Milinkovic Savic played a wonderful ball over the top. Anderson made the run on time to head it past Handanovic.
Lazio beat Inter 3-1 as Luis Alberto strikes a stunner
Inter had a positive start to the second half as Dumfries won a free-kick upfield. Dimarco delivered a perfect ball in the box as Dumfries won the header. The ball went to Lautaro, and he scored the equalizer with the tip of his boot. Just when the momentum was shifting to Inter’s favor, Sarri made two changes that completely changed the game.
Luis Alberto and Pedro came on in the 57th minute, and suddenly Lazio started to look a lot better. Both Spaniards helped Lazio to have more control of the ball. Inzaghi brought subs in to change the momentum, but it did not affect much. Lazio pushed Inter back, and Pedro made a back pass to Alberto, who had space. The Spaniard produced a wonderful strike to the top bins as Lazio restored their lead.
Inter could not bounce back from that goal and were risking many bodies in front in search of an equalizer. This left them open at the back, and Pedro got the ball from Immobile in the box. So he made his classic cut inside and curled it past Handanovic to seal the game.
