Lukaku wants to stay at Inter says Marotta

Romelu Lukaku wants to stay at Inter after his loan spell ends on June 30. The Belgian striker will return to Chelsea, but he would push for a loan extension. Marotta said he does not know what Chelsea will do on a technical level, but Inter will be willing to keep Lukaku. The Chelsea striker did not contribute enough for most part of the season, but he is up and running now.

Lukaku has picked up his form at the right time for Inter. His goal contributions have helped Inter to make a return in the top-four. The Nerazzurri were going through a terrible run in Serie A. But Lukaku’s inclusion gave Inter a different outlet in attack. The Belgian striker is a real presence in the box, and his hold play is second to none in the league. Moreover, he started to combine with Lautaro like he previously did under Conte.

The Blues are now monitoring Lukaku’s situation at Inter Milan. After having a terrible season, Chelsea are in need of a quality number 9. Lukaku had a poor return to the Stamford bridge, but it had to do with a lot of other off the pitch issues. The Belgian striker had problems with Tuchel, who is now gone. But Pochettino who will be their manager next season, will consider Lukaku in his plans going forward.

Inter Milan are also looking for a forward in the summer transfer window, as Correa has been a disappointment so far. So the Belgian striker would have to be at his best to get enough game time. Inzaghi still prefers to start the Dzeko and Lautaro duo in big games, and bring Lukaku from the bench. He has helped in Champions League games by converting some crucial penalties.
