Man United sign Onana for €50 million

Man United finally sign Onana for a €50 million plus add-ons deal. The Nerazzurri were adamant with their €60 million evaluation. But after several negotiation rounds, Inter agreed to a deal of €50 million plus add ons which will mount to around €54 million according to reports. The former Ajax keeper has agreed to a five-year deal with Man United and has the option to extend it further till 2029.

Onana had no trouble in agreeing to the personal terms with Man United, as Erik Ten Hag got in touch with his former player to convince him. After his Champions League heroics, United were eager to sign the Cameroonian keeper. They accelerated the process to sign him after De Gea’s departure.

Inter will now move for Sommer and Trubin as they have identified the duo as ideal replacements for Onana and Handanovic. However, there will be some obstacles in pursuit of Trubin. Shakhtar are demanding €30 million, and could only go down to €20 million. Meanwhile, Inter will not go over €10-12 million according to reports. So the Nerazzurri might have to search elsewhere for a young keeper with high potential.

Man United sign Onana and will travel for medicals soon

Ten Hag specifically asked for Onana as the former Ajax keeper will perfectly settle in his style of play. The Dutch manager wants a keeper with a good ball distribution range and calm under pressure. De Gea was not the best with the ball at his feet, which restricted United from playing out from the back. But Onana is familiar with Ten Hag’s system and will massively help in the build-up.

Inter now have the money to stabilize their financial situation and work on replacements. However, Onana’s loss will be huge for Inter. Also, finding the right replacement with budget constraints will be an uphill task.
