Monza stun Inter as they suffer another league loss

Monza stun Inter as the Nerazzurri can not break their terrible run in Serie A. Their impressive win in the Champions League gave the fans some hope to turn things around domestically. Inter are failing to make their chances count, as they can not find the net despite multiple chances. The Nerazzurri had a chance to climb back to the fourth spot after Bologna held AC Milan on Saturday. Inzaghi would feel immense pressure as the fans showed their disappointment after the final whistle.

The Italian manager had to make some changes after an exhausting clash against Benfica in the Champions League. He decided to bring Lukaku and Correa back into the attack, but they both missed plenty of chances in the final third. Inter had a bright start, but the Belgian striker could not keep his header on target from Barella’s cross.

Correa linked up well with Mkhitaryan and Lukaku in the 24th minute around the edge of the box. The Argentine then fired a shot, but Di Gregorio managed to push it away. The Nerazzurri managed to have control of the game, but they missed a cutting edge in the first half and lacked creativity in their attack.

The Nerazzurri continued their domination in the second half but could not find the net. Lukaku had another opportunity with the header, but he could not beat Di Gregorio from Acerbi’s cross. Inter were not clinical, which cost them in the end. They were pressing high, and showing intent, as Lukaku got another chance after winning the ball early in Monza’s half. But the Belgian went for the goal instead of playing it to Barella.

The Nerazzurri slowed down with their attack, and Monza were creating several chances on the counter. They finally got a shocking lead at the Meazza following a corner. Caldirola was unmarked, and he thumped his header past Onana and silenced the San Siro.

Inzaghi brought both Lautaro and Dzeko to find an equalizer. Inter were stacking up corners, but they missed the precision of Calhanoglu from set-pieces. Lautaro Martinez had a chance towards the end with a corner, but his header went wide as Inter slumped to another loss.
