Graham Potter is open to the idea of Romelu Lukaku returning to Chelsea. The Belgian striker decided to come back to Inter after a poor season at Chelsea. He is still struggling to get back to his usual best as he did not play enough games at Chelsea. Thomas Tuchel did not want to change his system for Romelu Lukaku, and he had to stay on the bench for the majority of the games. However, now the new Chelsea boss is ready to discuss Lukaku’s return to Stamford bridge.
Romelu Lukaku had his best season at Inter, but he had a point to prove in the Premier League. But to his dismay, his return did not pan out as he would have liked and had to return to the Meazza. The Belgian forward had a warm welcome on his return and scored his first goal soon for Inter. But he is out because of a thigh injury and is expected to be back for the game against Barcelona in the Champions League. The Belgian striker does not want to return to Chelsea and will be looking to extend his loan deal.
Potter is open to Lukaku return and will hold talks with the Belgian
The new Chelsea boss has a different approach to the setup. He is looking to build a 3-5-2 system, which is the same formation as Inter’s. Also, this will give Lukaku support in front of another striker alongside him. Moreover, Graham likes to have a possession style of play, and find solutions by keeping the ball. Inzaghi has a similar philosophy, and Lukaku will be familiar with that playstyle.
The Blues are struggling to finish their chances and are underperforming their xG in recent games. Lukaku, when in form can solve those problems, however, he does not want to go back to Chelsea. The Belgian wants to extend his stay at Inter with another loan deal.
