Real Madrid target Lukaku as Ancelotti wants him

Real Madrid target Romelu Lukaku for the summer transfer window as Carlo Ancelotti wants to sign a striker. The Nerazzurri are looking to extend his loan deal with Chelsea, but Madrid could swoop in and take Lukaku permanently. The Blues do not have Lukaku in their plans and are looking to sell him. Chelsea brought Lukaku for a whopping £100 million and want to get something in return as the Belgian striker did not work for them.

Romelu Lukaku has been getting back in form in recent games, however, he is still far from his best. The Belgian striker scored his first goal from open play since August on the weekend against Empoli. Lukaku has scored some crucial penalties for Inter, but he struggled to play regularly for the majority of the season. Moreover, he missed crucial chances in the World Cup against Croatia that knocked Belgium out. But Lukaku’s recent performance in the Champions League and Serie A have attracted Ancelotti’s interest.

The Los Blancos have struggled in Benzema’s absence, and are looking to get a backup for him. While Mariano Diaz is likely to depart in the summer, Ancelotti will need a striker to manage Benzema’s workload, as the French striker has endured several injuries this season. Also, he is struggling to get back in shape like before, but he can act as a focal point for Madrid’s attacks. The Belgian striker likes to play with his back to goal and is good with his link-up play.

The Nerazzurri can not afford to sign Lukaku permanently and will be hoping to keep him for another season. His transfer value has dropped to €40 million, and Madrid could go for him. The Blues will have to incur a loss, as this might be their best chance to sell Lukaku.
