Real Sociedad draw with Inter in the UCL opener

Real Sociedad draw with Inter as the Nerazzurri could not get all three points at Anoeta. The Spanish side managed to get an early lead, which helped them to restrict Inter’s chances by playing conservatively. Inzaghi had to make some changes as Calhanoglu was out due to an injury in his left thigh. Also, most of the players had fatigue after the Milan derby on the weekend.

Inter Milan players lacked energy and it was evident as Inter conceded a goal early on due to Bastoni’s error. The Italian defender was late with his decision-making and had the ball for too long. Brais Mendez punished Inter by pouncing on the opportunity, giving Sommer no chance. Inzaghi knew he would face some problems against a tough opponent like Real Sociedad. So Augusto and Pavard finally got a start for the Nerazzurri. However, his changes could not make an impact as Inter struggled in most of the game.

Real Sociedad draw with Inter as Lautaro scores a late goal

The hosts had a great start to the second half as well, but Sommer was ready for the challenge and made a couple of brilliant stops to keep Inter in the game. Barella was almost sent off as the Italian midfielder got a red card for his foul, but after the VAR check, it was evident that Barella did not push his leg deliberately. Sociedad continued with their wave of attacks as Merino’s header hit the crossbar following a corner from Kubo.

Inzaghi made several changes as he brought Dimarco, Thuram, and Frattesi. So Inter had some fresh legs on the field and were starting to create some chances. Thuram scored a goal, but he was marginally offside. However, Lautaro came in clutch as he pounced on Frattesi’s pass and fired home the late equalizer. Inter will now hope for a better performance later when they host at San Siro.
