Sassuolo beat Inter 2-1 to end their perfect run

Inter Milan’s perfect run came to a crushing end as Sassuolo beat them 2-1 at the San Siro. The Nerazzurri were on track to another win with a goal just before halftime. But Sassuolo managed to orchestrate a comeback in the second half. Inter were poor in the last 35 minutes, and Inzaghi admitted that he would analyze their performance and overcome their defeat.

Inter had a bright start to the game with a couple of chances in the early stages. But they could not trouble Consigli. Thuram had a couple of big chances as he could not keep his header on target from Dumfries’ cross. The French forward again missed a chance as Mkhitaryan and Barella combined well outside the box before supplying the ball to Thuram.

Sassuolo then tested Sommer with a couple of long-range strikes. The Nerazzurri finally got the goal at the stroke of halftime as Thuram gave the ball to Dumfries from the edge of the box. The Dutch defended and took his time before making a decision, it looked like he would pass, but he went onto his weaker left foot to find the bottom corner.

The visitors looked like a different side in the second half as they were pushing numbers forward. Elric had a great chance from the corner, as Sassuolo initiated a well-practiced sequence. Berardi got the short corner and whipped the cross in, but Erlic missed the header from close range.

Sassuolo managed to get their equalizer after a sustained period of possession. Berardi picked out Bajrami with a pass through the defense. The Albanian midfielder managed to get through Sommer, who could have done better at his near post.
Things went from bad to worse as Inter were struggling to create concrete chances.

Dionisi made a couple of more changes to sustain their energetic approach in the second half. The Neroverdi got their lead as Toljan picked out Berardi in space, who came inside in an instant and produced a stunning goal from his left foot. Inzaghi made cha ges and brought Sanchez, Frattesi, and Klassen. But Consigli was up to the challenge and managed to keep their lead intact as Inter lost their first game of the season.
