Bayern strike two past Inter at the Meazza

Bayern strike two past Inter as the Nerazzurri lost their first Champions League game. Inzaghi made some changes to his starting lineup that lost against Milan over the weekend, but it did not change the result. Inter were outclassed by Bayern in some phases and they could not reply despite having some chances. Inzaghi decided to start Onana for this game, and he did a brilliant job as he made ten saves in the match.

Bayern were pressing high up the pitch, and Inter had a different strategy this time. They were not afraid to launch balls at the start and compete for the second balls. Inter looked organized in defense as both Dumfries and Gosens stayed back while defending. Davies and the Dumfries had an exciting match-up, but the Canadian defender won that battle. Bayern were eager to regain possession after losing the ball, and Inter could not create much.

Inter had a high line when Bayern were building out from the back. Khimmich exploited this when Sane made a darting run behind. The German winger controlled the ball wonderfully and managed to beat Onana, who was off his line. Inter did not create any real chance in the first half despite having a couple of good build-ups.

Inter had a good start to the second half as they pressed forward,, and Lautaro was trying to mark Khimmich, who looked exceptional in the first half. Bayern produced a moment of magic in the 66th minute, as they doubled their lead. Sane and Coman combined brilliantly in a series of one-twos. The French winger chipped the ball over Inter’s defense, and Sane fired past goal. D’Ambrosio had a chance to clear it, but his intervention resulted in an own goal.

Inter then made some changes as Barella, Correa, and Dimarco came off the bench. The Argentine had a brilliant chance to take one back as Lautaro blocked Hernandez’s pass and gave the ball to his Argentine teammate. But Correa could not keep his shot on target while Neuer was out of his line. Inter could not reply to the two goals and will now look forward to the Torino game.
