Chelsea to bid for Dumfries in January window

Chelsea are going to make a bid for Denzel Dumfries in the January transfer window. The Blues are searching for a right wing-back after Reece James’ injury. The Nerazzurri will sell Dumfries in the winter transfer window if a big offer arrives. Inter Milan are also keeping tabs on various players that can help in replacing Dumfries. Manchester United and other clubs from Premier League could also make an offer for Dumfries and turn it into a bidding war.

Chelsea were keeping an eye on Dumfries since the FIFA World Cup as the Dutch wing-back was brilliant for his national team. But they are now eager to sign him, as Reece James has another injury on his knee after playing his first game after the break against Bournemouth. Now signing a wing-back is a priority for the Blues as they only have Azpilicueta, who can operate in that position.

The Nerazzurri have to make some profit before the end of this season. So they are willing to accept an offer for Dumfries and will go for a cheaper alternative. Currently, Inter have Darmian and Bellanova, who can cover for Dumfries if he leaves. However, his quality in the attacking phase is unmatched, which will be a big miss to Inter. Chelsea are building their team under the new manager Graham Potter, who likes Dumfries’ profile.

The Nerazzurri will only accept an offer above €50-60 million. Manchester United could also come into the market as they are searching for Dalot’s backup. Erik Ten Hag is familiar with Dumfries’ game as he faced him in the Eredivisie. Moreover, his attacking prowess will add value to any team that signs him. Inter are targeting Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich to replace him.
