Antonio Conte deserves all the credit as he has done a brilliant job at Inter. As said by ex-Inter president, Ernesto Pellegrini. Inter decided to sign Conte last year to win silverware. So, the move absolutely made sense because they were bringing in a manager who has a history of winning throughout his career. He has won three scudetti with Juventus. A premier league title and the FA Cup with Chelsea. He has coached the Italian National team as well.
Although Conte did not win any silverware in his first season, he took Inter to the Europa League Finals. Then he missed out on scudetto by just one point. He reached the semi-finals of Coppa Italia as well. He brought a new philosophy and they finally looked ambitious. Now in this season, Inter are 11 points clear at the top of the Serie A with just eight games left. This makes them heavy favourites to win the Scudetto for the first time since 2010.
Pelligrini praises Conte for doing a brilliant job
Some believe Inter have the league’s strongest squad and are exactly where they should be at the table, while others think Conte has done incredibly well to have them so far ahead of AC Milan and Juventus. Pellegrini, was Inter’s president between 1984 and 1995. He told Radio Kiss Kiss on Wednesday: “Conte is a great leader and he’s doing an incredible job. “Inter seem to be a great team, it’s the right year to finally win the Scudetto again. “I’m very pleased to watch this league title being won.”
Inter have become the first team in Serie A history to begin the second half of a league season with 11 straight wins. They are breaking the previous record (10) set by Sacchi’s AC Milan in 1990. Conte’s side travel to play Napoli at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on Sunday. They will be hoping to extend that run to 12.
