Inter Milan atop the table as Romelu Lukaku scored a brace and set up another goal. Lazio scored once from a free-kick but could not complete the comeback. The game ended with a final score of 3-1 at the San Siro.

Lukaku’s 2nd goal was his 300th goal between club and country. The goal was a bit controversial as it was first ruled offside. But later, VAR turned the decision and the goal was given. The Nerazzurri now have 50 points and are one point above their city rivals AC Milan.

It was important for Inter to come back after they got out from Coppa Italia by Juventus. Also, this game was crucial for Romelu Lukaku who had a bit of dip in form recently. “Romelu struggled a bit lately but it’s normal to have dips in form,” Inter coach Antonio Conte said. “We need this type of Romelu, he’s back to his usual standards.” Inter were not convincing initially in the game. But, they defended well and absorbed everything thrown at them by Lazio. The Biancocelesti had more possession while Inter were happy to sit back and counter. This proved to be a wise decision from Conte, and the third goal was a prime example of that. Lukaku burst down from the right, holding off a defender as he raced from inside his own half into the penalty area before rolling across for Martínez to tap into an empty net.

In the end, Inter Milan were able to defend their 2-goal lead and hence move to the top of the table. Meanwhile, AC Milan lost 2-0 to Spezia on Saturday and Juventus lost to Napoli as well. The Nerazzurri will face their city rivals on Sunday, which can be a potential title decider.
