Inter beat Empoli 1-0 to keep their perfect record intact

Inter Milan managed to beat Empoli with a narrow 1-0 margin away from home to maintain their perfect start to the season. The Nerazzurri are enjoying their form in Serie A and got a controlled win over Empoli. They dominated for most of the game, and Dimarco’s stunner helped Inter to get all three points. The Nerazzurri had plenty of chances to extend their lead but were not clinical enough. Inzaghi made some changes and gave Barella some rest by starting Frattesi. Darmian played the right wing-back role, as Pavard was at the right side of the back three.

Inter were comfortable with the ball right from the start. Calhanoglu dictated the midfield and completed more than 100 passes in the match. The Turkish midfielder also created more chances than any player on the field. Inter came close to taking an early lead as Bastoni was overlapping Dimarco on the left flank to create overloads. The Italian defender found Darmian on the back post with his cross. However, Empoli managed to keep Darmian’s header away with a goal-line clearance.

Inter were looking dangerous with their set-piece routine as they were creative with their corners. Thuram Calhanoglu provided a cross in the box following a corner, and Thuram found the net in the first half. However, the French forward was marginally offside. Empoli’s keeper Berisha managed to stop Inter’s other chances.

Inter continued with their domination in the second half, and Dimarco won a corner with his shot on the near post. Calhanoglu took the corner, and the ball got to the edge of the box where Dimarco was waiting. The Italian defender produced a beautiful first-time volley that flew into the top corner.

Empoli had a chance to score the equalizer as Ranocchia produced a dangerous free kick. But Yann Sommer showed his sharp reflexes to prevent his effort from going in. Inzaghi then made some changes and brought Barella, Arnautovic, and De Vrij in. The Nerazzurri managed to keep their lead as Empoli struggled to orchestrate clinical chances.
