Monza were significantly better in the second half as they were pushing more numbers forward. Ciurria played a low cross in the box, but Sommer came out to punch the cross away. It came to Kyriakopoulos, but Calhanoglu was quick to come across and block his shot that must have gone in. The Turkish midfielder was excellent in the number 6 role.

Inter were creating overloads on the left flank, with Barella coming to the side and Bastoni pushing forward. The asymmetric structure helped Inter to fire more balls in the box. Also, Lautaro was excellent in his linkup play as he was dropping and circulating the ball.

Inter then regained control, and Inzaghi brought substitutes to replace some tired legs. The new signings, Augusto, Juan Cuadrado, Yann Bisseck, and Marko Arnautovic came on, and the former Bologna striker was the pick of them. The Austrian striker had space outside the box in the left half-space area. He received the ball from Mkhitaryan and went past his marker to square the ball to Lautaro on the far post. The Argentine came sliding to score his second and seal the game for Inter.
