Inter Milan are ready to sign Benjamin Pavard from Bayern Munich after reaching an agreement, and the French defender will soon come for medicals. The Nerazzurri want to wrap up this signing soon to incorporate their new defender into the system. Moreover, Inter have agreed on the transfer fee of €30 million plus €2 million in add-ons. They are waiting for the final green light, as Bayern are searching for Pavard’s replacement before making the transfer official.
Both Bepper Marotta and Simone Inzaghi were on the same page to sign Pavard as a replacement for Milan Skriniar. Darmian did an excellent job in Skriniar’s absence last season, but the club want more cover for his position. Moreover, the Italian defender can operate in different positions so Inzaghi will use him to rotate his players.
Pavard’s signing will help Inter to move more freely in the offensive phase. The French defender is excellent on the ball and can help in evading the press easily. Also, Inzaghi would like Pavard to create overloads on the right flank similar to Bastoni. This will help Inter in unlocking defenses that are compact and have low defensive lines.

Inter were keen to get Pavard earlier in the window, but they had to attend other transfer deals as some of their key players left the club. Edin Dzeko’s replacement Thuram joined at the right time, but Inter had to take some time for Frattesi’s deal. The Croatian midfielder was reluctant to join Al Nassr but later joined after increasing his wages.
Inter are hoping to complete this deal by Wednesday, once Bayern sends them the green light. The Bundesliga giants are searching for his replacement. But with the season already underway, the Nerazzurri would want to have Pavard as soon as possible.
