Inter beat Salzburg 2-1 to top their UCL group

Inter Milan beat RB Salzburg 2-1 and moved to the top of the table in their group D. Alexis Sanchez opened the scoring for the Nerazzurri as the Chilean striker scored his first goal of the season. However, the Austrian side pulled one back after half-time, but later, Hakan Calhanoglu converted from the spot yet again to restore the lead for Inter. The Nerazzurri manager was happy with the performance as he knew RB Salzburg would trouble Inter on the break.

The young team from Salzburg showed no pressure at the San Siro as they were pressing high in the early stages. Gloukh fired the first shot of the game on target, but Sommer managed to quickly parry the ball. However, last season’s runners-up Inter came up to the stage and broke the deadlock against the run of play.

Mkhitaryan got the ball outside the penalty area and played a through pass. He found Davide Frattesi, who made an excellent run in the box and managed to pass it to Sanchez. The Chilean striker placed his shot perfectly beyond Schlager and got his first goal. Salzburg did not threaten Sommer after this goal and Inter went into half-time with a one-goal lead.

The visitors came back into the game, and they were attacking through the right flank more. The Austrian side got their goal as Simic controlled a long ball behind the Nerazzurri defense. He played it to Kjaergaard outside the box, who found the run of Gloukh. The young striker managed to strike it past Sommer and make it 1-1.

However, Salzburg’s joy was short-lived as Frattesi was brought down in the box from Gourna-Douath. Inter again went for their penalty specialist Hakan Calhanoglu. So, the Turkish midfielder did not disappoint as he sent the keeper the wrong way and restored the lead. Inzaghi then made some changes to bring some fresh legs on the pitch. So, the Nerazzurri managed to keep their lead intact, and will now prepare for the clash with AS Roma on the weekend.
