Inzaghi exempts Inter trio from rotation

Simone Inzaghi exempts the Inter Milan trio from rotation despite fixture congestion, as they are the cornerstones of the team. Lautaro, Calhanoglu, and Mkhitaryan remain undroppable because of their quality and importance to the team. The Argentine forward is having a brilliant season so far and was the fastest player to get to the double figures in goals for Inter along with the legend Giuseppe Meazza. So the Nerazzurri manager can not afford to leave him as he is carrying the goal-scoring burden on his shoulders.

Another player who had a great season last year, but his importance has increased this season is Hakan Calhanoglu. The Turkish midfielder has taken over the number 6 role after Brozovic’s departure to Al Nassr. Calhanoglu has excelled in his new role and is dominating games by controlling the tempo of play. Also, his expertise on the dead ball is crucial for Inter as he is their go-to man for converting from the spot. He has played for around 900 minutes across all competitions for Inter this season.

But Mkhitaryan has made this position his own as he is excellent with linkup and stringing passes between the lines. Also, he has improved the quality of supply to Lautaro and Thuram. Inzaghi has played 916 minutes across all competitions this season.

The trio has scored a combined total of 16 goals this season. Another notable mention is Marcus Thuram, as the French forward has settled into the team brilliantly. The former Gladbach forward has helped Lautaro to find more space by making clever runs.
