Inter can get Barcelona defender Emerson for £21million in the summer transfer window. However, this transfer is more complicated than it looks. Real Betis partly owns Emerson. Although Betis owns 50% of his economic rights, they’re not in a position to buy him out. After the pandemic, the clubs have yet to curb the financial problems. Thus, as of now, Barca and Betis are working on a deal that will ‘satisfy’ everyone.
However, making a profit out of this deal would be nearly impossible. In 2015, after representing Palmeiras, São Paulo FC and Grêmio, he joined Ponte Preta. He made his Serie A debut with the team back in 2017. However, his side suffered relegation that year. Further, in April 2018, he joined Atletico Mineiro on a five-year deal. And a deal was fixed between Barcelona and Betis where both the clubs paid half of his fees, plus retained part of his economic rights. They paid £11.2 million in 2019. Emerson’s current deal with Betis ends this season, and Barcelona can sign him for £5.2 million.
Inter can get Barcelona defender, PSG and Spurs also in the race
Spurs need a new right-back as Jose Mourinho is done with Matt Doherty and Serge Aurier. In fact, he is playing play academy graduate Japhet Tanganga. The 21-year old is a target for the Spurs, PSG, Bayern Leverkusen, and even AC Milan. When asked about the opportunity to play for Barcelona, he said that he is a Barca fan since childhood and it would be a dream come true for him.
Since Inter are Serie A favorites for the Scudetto, they will be an attraction for the youngster. Inter also have the best points average in Serie A. They are 11 points ahead of AC Milan, leaving behind nine-time defenders, Juventus. Will Inter pursue Emerson in the upcoming transfer window?
