Inter open talks with De Zerbi ahead of summer

Inter Milan open talks with De Zerbi as they are searching for a suitable manager that can replace Simone Inzaghi. There are various candidates on Inter’s radar, but De Zerbi is currently topping the list and is open to a return to Italy in the summer. However, Inter Milan will have to pay €13 million to exercise his release clause at Brighton. Moreover, Inter will have to pay around €10 million if they decide to sack Inzaghi.

The Nerazzurri are trying to put pressure on Simone Inzaghi, as Inter are entering a crucial phase of the season. The Nerazzurri are alive in all competitions, although the Scudetto seems unreachable now. But Inzaghi has managed to get Inter to the quarter-finals of the UCL after 12 years. They face in-form Benfica but have a chance to enter the semi-finals. Inter will also hope to defend Coppa Italia next month. So the next few months could decide Inzaghi’s future at Inter.

Roberto De Zerbi is high on Inter’s list as the former Sassuolo manager has done well in various leagues. Also, he is a tactical genius and has more exposure in comparison to Inzaghi. While other options like Conte and Allegri will demand high wages. Thiago Motta is another candidate, but his lack of experience in Europe is holding Inter to open talks with him.

De Zerbi will also help Inter in building a team for the future, as he has improved sides like Sassuolo, Shakhtar, and now Brighton. However, there is a financial obstacle that Inter have to cross. The Nerazzurri will have to pay for De Zerbi’s release clause and Inzaghi’s contract termination. But if Inter fails to stay in the top four, they will make a move for another manager.
