Inter vs Sassuolo postponed as Inter have covid cases

Inter vs Sassuolo postponed after Milan’s health authority state that they have covid cases. The Nerazzurri have confirmed via a statement on their website. Stefan de Vrij and Matias Vecino have become the third and fourth players to test positive for COVID-19 this week. Danilo D’Ambrosio and Samir Handanovic have also tested positive before.

As a result of the outbreak at the club, Milan’s local health authority has enforced three measures in an attempt to prevent the further spread of the virus. So, the first of these measures, as announced by Inter’s statement, is that Inter must suspend all kinds of activity with their first team for four days, up to and including Sunday, March 21. The second measure is that Inter and Sassuolo will not take part in Saturday’s Serie A match at the San Siro. Also, the third measure is that none of Milan’s players will be going to their national teams for the upcoming international break.

Inter’s last match was against Torino, and they won 2-1, thanks to the late winner by Lautaro. They are currently 9 points clear of their rivals AC Milan. Inter Milan have a winning run of 8 games in Serie A. Now they will have to wait for their next match. On the other hand, The Neroverdi, did well to beat Verona 3-2 at home at the weekend. But in the past, they often struggled in matches against title-chasing sides. So Inter will be looking to stretch their winning run to 9 games. They will look to cement their position in the Serie A table

On Monday, Inter will get their players to undergo another round of molecular testing. The club also confirmed in their statement that De Vrij and Vecino are both in quarantine at home.
