Inter Milan has identified Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski as a prime target and want him to come in the winter transfer window. The Nerazzurri have plans underway to make room for him in their squad. The 29-year-old Polish midfielder played a pivotal role in Napoli’s historic Scudetto triumph last season. He has continued to display impressive form under the new manager this term, despite challenges faced by the team. Napoli have been struggling since the departure of Spalletti, but Zielinski has continued with his brilliant form.
Zielinski’s contract with Napoli is set to expire at the end of the current season. Also, the negotiations for a new deal have been unsuccessful. Hence, his departure in January is looking more and more likely. Inter directors Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio have reportedly been in constant communication with Zielinski’s representatives over the past few weeks. The Nerazzurri management like his profile and want to bring him aboard soon.
Inter Milan want Zielinski and could sell Sensi or Klassen
The Nerazzurri’s proposed plan involves offering Zielinski a three-year contract with an option for a fourth. They will formalize the negotiations at the beginning of the January transfer window. The intention is to secure the deal for June. This will allow Zielinski to finish the season with Napoli before transitioning to Simone Inzaghi’s squad at Inter.
To accommodate Zielinski, Inter is working to create space in their current squad. One aspect of this involves finding a new club for Lucien Agoume who has struggled to cement his place at Inter. Additionally, contracts for Stefano Sensi and Davy Klassen are set to expire in June, and Inter has decided not to renew them. So both the players could leave on free transfers. Hence, these strategic moves underline Inter’s determination to strengthen their midfield with the acquisition of Zielinski.
