Tottenham and Atletico Madrid eye De Vrij

Tottenham Hotspur and Atletico Madrid are looking to sign Stefan De Vrij. The Nerazzurri are not looking to give De Vrij an improved contract, and he could be on his way. Both Spurs and Atletico Madrid are ready to offer him a pre-agreement in the January window and take him as a free agent in the summer. Inter Milan need him for this season, so De Vrij will not leave in the January transfer window.

The Nerazzurri could lose De Vrij for free in the summer, but the club can not give him a better contract. De Vrij has been inconsistent recently and has made some mistakes in big games. Inzaghi decided to bring Acerbi in this transfer window to help in the rotation, as De Vrij can not start every game. Now, a move to another club seems like a good choice for both club and the player. The Dutch defender did not represent his national team in the World Cup, but he was in the squad.

The Spanish giants are looking for a defender that can play in the middle of the back three. They are currently using Alex Witsel, who is number 6. De Vrij’s signing will move the Belgium midfielder to his more natural position. Also, De Vrij’s defensive awareness will make him a good fit for Diego Simeone’s team. Tottenham are also looking to add another defender, as there will be fixture congestion once club football returns.

Conte knows the qualities of De Vrij and is keen to make a move in the winter transfer window. He was willing to offer Sanchez in return, but Inter will not entertain a swap deal. With many clubs lurking, it will be tough to get De Vrij easily. Newcastle and Paris Saint Germain also have an interest in him.
