Calhanoglu and Bastoni extend contract with Inter

Hakan Calhanoglu and Alessandro Bastoni extend their contract with Inter. The pair were out of contract in 2024 but Inter have renewed their contract.

The Turkish midfielder will sign a contract until 2027 and the Italian defender will sign the contract until 2028. Both players were pivotal for the Nerazzurri last season.

After Brozovic was sold to Al-Nassr, it created some space in Inter’s wage bill to extend the duo’s contract. Moreover extending their contracts was on Inter’s wishlist for quite some time now.

Inter were not willing to risk going into next season without renewing their contracts. According to Italian media, Bastoni will reportedly earn around €5.5 million per season.

Calhanoglu joined Inter from Milan on a free transfer two years ago and excelled in Inter’s midfield even when Brozovic was not playing. The Turkey captain contributed six goals and three assists in 49 appearances across all competitions last season.

Meanwhile, Bastoni, who is only 24 years old, has secured his position as one of the best defenders in Italy. The Italian plays as a left-centre back for Inter. He also played 46 matches last season.

Inter have also strengthened their side by signing Marcus Thuram, who comes in as Edin Dzeko’s replacement. Moreover, they will soon announce the signing of Davide Fratessi from Sassuolo, who will replace Brozovic.

The Nerazzurri finished third last season in the Serie A and were also trailed by 18 points by Champions Napoli. However, they had a wonderful journey in the Champions League. They were comfortably able to beat Milan in the Champions League semi-final.

But, they lost by a narrow defeat in the Champions League final against Man City in Istanbul. Nevertheless, they will bounce back next season and will compete in the Serie A and the Champions League.
