Christian Eriksen to Spurs was a possibility back in the January window. The Dane has had a life of adventure with the Nerazzurri. Eriksen was a part of the Spurs family for seven years. He scored 69 goals and provided 89 assists. Eriksen became a part of Inter in the 2018-19 season. He arrived at a time of despair when the world was hit with the coronavirus pandemic. In fact, Lombardy was one of the worst-hit regions in Italy.
Eriksen was out of favour for Conte in the past seasons. However, Conte sent Eriksen in the 89th minute during the semi-final match against AC Milan. The Dane scored a stunning derby goal which put him in the good eye. Ever since he has been praised by several members of the club. Inter CEO Beppe Marotta said Eriksen is an important part of the club after his derby goal. Furthermore, the assistant manager, Stellini also praised Eriksen’s game.
Christian Eriksen to Spurs was possible if they’d accepted Inter’s offer
Inter made an offer to the Tottenham Spurs and were hell-bent on getting the amount. However, the Spurs failed to negotiate so they couldn’t sign Eriksen in January. A deal involving Dele Alli could’ve made the move possible. If Dele Alli left Tottenham and moved to PSG, Eriksen could’ve made the move back to his boyhood club.
Eriksen has suffered impeccably at Inter as he was mostly on the bench. Conte and Eriksen have not been allies. Eriksen did not fit into Conte’s system and Conte failed to provide the chances to him. However, now Conte is happy with Eriksen. The Dane has worked on his game to settle into a different position than his own. With his consistent performances, Eriksen can make a permanent place in Conte’s squad. Will Tottenham try to sign Eriksen again?
