Francis Amuzu to Inter seems to be brewing in the backdrop of Inter’s Serie A domination. The Nerazzurri have found the right balance under Antonio Conte to make a strong bid for the Scudetto. In the same breath, Inter lack options in the left wing-back position. Ideally, Conte likes to play Ashley Young in that position but his lack of form has given Perisic a chance. And the Croatian has made full use of this opportunity to cement his position.
But, both Young and Perisic are in the twilight of their careers. With a 33-year-old Darmian being Conte’s third option for the position, it surely needs reinforcement. This is where the 21-year-old Amuzu comes in. The Belgian winger is young and can be forged into a left wing-back. Furthermore, his pace and the ability to make successful runs into the box make him a perfect fit for Conte.
Francis Amuzu to Inter? Will Inter spend?
It’s no secret that Inter are in deep water with finances. But, the Nerazzurri have shelled out the money in the past when Conte has asked for someone. Inter spent big on the likes of Lukaku and Hakimi and they’ve been amazing investments. Furthermore, Anderlecht are looking to quote around €7 million for the young Belgian, more than double his value. Then there are reports that Steven Gerrard is keen on bringing Amuzu to Rangers. Although Inter will get their way with it if they really want Amuzu, Rangers’ interest will only push his price up.
Moreover, Antonio Conte will be keen to build on the foundation of this team. His Inter squad is clearly not ready to compete in Europe even though they’re bulldozing opponents in the league. Francis Amuzu to Inter can turn out to be a real masterstroke if Conte can do a Perisic like transformation with him. But, will the Nerazzurri board get Conte a good wing-back in the summer?
