Handanovic replacement needed as the Nerazzurri legend signs a contract extension reports Sky Sports Italy. Samir Handanovic is one of the pillars of this Nerazzurri side. The ever-present shot-stopper is also a very important dressing room figure. But the Slovenian is 36-years-old right now. Even if he drags on till 2022, the Nerazzurri club must find the next main man in the goal till the next summer. If the club identifies a young keeper who can take over from Samir they need to bring him under the captain’s wing soon.
Handanovic has signed an extension until 2022 after which he’ll probably leave. Currently, the Nerazzurri have other positions to fill and a deflated budget to do that. So, there won’t be a replacement signing this summer. But, the management will most definitely keep an eye on keepers across Europe.
Samir Handanovic is a club legend in every sense. The Slovenian shot-stopper joined the Nerazzurri in the summer of 2012. Since then, he has made 342 appearances for the club. In February 2019, he was named the Nerazzurri captain.
Handanovic replacement needed but not that urgent
Samir is getting slower between the sticks as age catches up. But, the 36-year-old is still one of the best in his position. The other keepers at Inter cannot stand up to replace the Slovenian. So, the club is very well aware that they’ll need to make a world-class signing.
But the matter is not that urgent as the captain can easily carry on for a season at least. Also, Inter are desperately working to sign other reinforcements at low costs. Thus, the management will not shift its focus in the middle of their pursuit. The club will sign Arturo Vidal once Barcelona terminate his contract in the coming days. Also, Conte has a long list of players to offload before making any big signings. Handanovic replacement is needed but not in this window.
