Inter Milan and AC Milan will pursue different stadiums, as the Rossoneri are abandoning the original plan. The neighboring clubs were going to work on the ‘Cathedral’ project. However, AC Milan are assessing different areas and want to build a separate stadium. The Nerazzurri, too, are going to sign documents to pursue a new stadium. While, both city rivals were planning to build a new stadium together. Now both are facing issues from environmentalists as well.
The Nerazzurri are not going to pursue a new stadium project in the San Siro site alone. Both the Milan-based clubs have to come together to build a new stadium, or else Inter are moving to a different site. Inter Milan CEO Alessandro Antonello said that they are still open to working on a new stadium project in the San Siro area. However, Milan are analyzing the La Maura area. So, Inter will wait for their analysis and will move to a different site if Milan decides to build a stadium alone.
Inter and Milan to pursue different stadiums away from the San Siro area
The Nerazzurri CEO Alessandro Antonello has a backup site where they can build a new stadium alone. They are looking to build a different stadium in the Assago area. But Inter want to work on the Cathedral project, as both Milan clubs were working on this together. Inter still respects that and will wait for AC Milan’s decision.
Environmentalists are protesting the idea of both clubs, as it can hamper the environment of the respective sites due to the construction of huge buildings. Both clubs had a meeting with the city council to discuss their project. No one wants to stay in the old San Siro area and are looking to work on separate projects. However, they will have to work more on building different stadiums and making an environment-friendly project.
