Inter eye German ace, Matthias Ginter to bolster their defense next year. The German defender’s contract with Borussia Monchengladbach will expire next year. So, Inter can sign a pre-contract with him in the winter transfer window and get him as a free agent next summer. He might earn €3 million per year which Inter can afford and his services will be of use. Inter need a good backup center back as a part of the squad rotation.
But, Barcelona are also keeping an eye on Ginter, as their new coach Xavi wants to improve their defense. Barcelona are also keen on Inter’s other target, Andre Onana. However, the Nerazzurri have a verbal agreement with Onana and they will look to sign him next year as a free agent. But Inter will have to battle with the Spanish giants if they wish to secure these two deals. Inter are also monitoring Insigne’s situation as he will leave Napoli as a free agent next summer as well.

Ginter is quick and is capable of playing in a back 3. So he will suit Inter’s system and the German is an experienced defender. He won the World Cup with Germany in 2014 and played a key role in defense. He is capable of playing the ball with both feet and can keep up with forwards with his pace. Inter can use him as a wide center back. Also, some clubs from Europe will be trying to take Inter’s defenders summer so the Nerazzurri should be prepared.
Inter have struggled defensively this season and they would like to bring in a quality defender like Ginter. Also, there will be a tight schedule next year as Qatar World Cup will take place. So Inter will need some depth in their squad.
