Inter Milan sign Arnautovic for €10 million

Inter Milan sign Marko Arnautovic from Bologna to bolster their attack. The Nerazzurri were looking for a striker to support Marcus Thuram and Lautaro Martinez in attack after they decided to leave Lukaku. Inter had better targets on their radar, but they could not complete those transfers as they were not feasible. Arnautovic has the experience of playing in Serie A, but he is a compromise option after Inter failed to acquire their prime targets.

Inter will be getting Arnautovic on loan initially, with the obligation to buy clause, with certain conditions in the contract. The Nerazzurri will then have to pay €10 million to Bologna to make the transfer permanent. Inter are skeptical of the Austrian striker, hence they are not signing him permanently right now.

Arnautovic could be a decent backup option if he stays consistent. Inter will not depend on him to start regularly, but he will have to come from the bench and help in the rotation. Inzaghi wants a player he can rely on when his main striker pair need to get some rest.

Arnautovic had a brief spell with Inter before, but he played in just three games. The Austrian striker was a part of the treble-winning squad under Jose Mourinho. However, he was finding his feet in the game and had some behavioral issues. Mourinho did not like him and decided to send him back to his parent club Twente. Arnautovic then went to Bundesliga and had three great seasons. He then went to the Premier League and had notable stints with Stoke City and West Ham United.

Arnautovic will help Inter in directing their attacks as he can act as a focal point. Inzaghi’s pragmatic approach in big games relies on playing off the tall striker up front to move forward. The Austrian striker will help Inter in that phase of the game.
