Inter Milan sign Emil Audero on a loan deal with the buy option from Sampdoria. The Nerazzurri wanted to sign a backup keeper for Yann Sommer, and they got Audero on board, who has been playing in Serie A throughout his career. The Sampdoria keeper came through the youth ranks of Juventus and is a viable option to play start in some Serie A games.

Yann Sommer will take some time to settle into the Italian league, so Audero can support him in Serie A. Meanwhile, Sommer can start in European competitions and slowly establish himself in Serie A like Onana did last season. Sampdoria have agreed to the loan deal, and Inter will have to pay €7 million to get him permanently next season.

Inter were targeting other young keepers as a backup to Sommer but could get strike a deal. Trubin was their main target, but they faced resistance from Shakhtar on his evaluation. But Inter had to sign a keeper to act as a second fiddle to Sommer, as both Handanovic and Radu have also left the club this summer.

Emil Audero has excellent shot-stopping abilities, which is essential for a keeper at Inter. Moreover, he is always on his toes to jump off his lines and act as a sweeper keeper. He protects the defense from incoming crosses as well, by punching them away. His distribution has improved over the last few years, but he still struggles with the ball at his feet.

Trubin is close to joining Benfica as well, which made his transfer to Inter difficult. Inter also had other options for this position, like Athletico Paranaense’s Bento. However, the Brazilian club said that Bento is not for sale, so Inter will look into him next season.
